Last Train To Rossland 1966

Last Train To Rossland 1966

In 1966 Jack McDonald and his tape recorder rode the last train to the top of the line in Rossland.  He boarded the train in Tadnac and narrated the trip up to Rossland, to the very top of the line at the top of the Wye near the LaFond place, where they started removing rail.  The Engineer on that day was Ray Komiski and the Conductor was Ed Waterer … the locomotive was #8719.  If you remember train whistles and the thrum of locomotives, join Jack for a nostalgic train ride.

Last Train To Rossland (Track Removal Ceremony) 1966

A few days later, after the Wye spur was removed down to the yard, they had a track removal ceremony at Rossland Station when they started removing track there.  Mayor Harry Lefevre talks about growing up with the trains in Rossland.  The photo below (all photos on this page thanks to Edward Davies) shows the first rail removed in the yard at Rossland Station, with the last CPR Station behind.

The next 3 photos are the original Rossland CPR Station and yard.
